I'm number seven of the eight and there's a 20-year span between the oldest and youngest. Somehow through the life circumstantial stretching, we all hold a unique bond, are hyperdiverse in strengths, interests and personalities, which fuels plots to great stories. More importantly, my family dynamics have provided me a solid foundation in this field of emotional wellness.
#bestdecisionever | Burnout to Belonging, interpersonal relationships hold strong influence upon our developing sense of Self, as do perceptions of our own identity, family dynamics and our environment. Nothing is static. We are fluid and capable of growing, overcoming thought patterns and achieving transformation. It begins first with the Self.
This description matters because it's an enormous part of my lived experience as a wife in an interracial marriage and mother of two biracial teens in this current era. Love is a learning curve in parenting, in connecting, in understanding, in belonging....it's a human journey of openness and humility. This family of mine, and our interpersonal relationships, impact my growth and purpose greatly.
Back in 2005, I committed to a year-long intensive training, under the teachings of Dr. Jane Goldberg with the Expressive Arts Training Institute. It was during this year that I learned about and applied the therapeutic value of process over product. Recognized by the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association, I earned a National Certificate as a practitioner of the therapeutic expressive arts. This formation has since been a vital part of my career within the field of emotional wellness.
I choose the pathway of becoming an esteemed National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach in order to help people live more aligned lives and do so with the highest integrity and standards of the wellness industry. I first attended the accredited training program provided by Catalyst Coaching Institute to meet eligibility requirements. Then, July of 2022, I was notified I passed the national board exam which is administered through the collaborative partnership of the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching and the National Board of Medical Examiners. This certification authorizes me to work as a collaborative partner within healthcare and wellness communities.
With over a decade of facilitating creative workshops, and witnessing lives transform, I harnessed personal strengths, academic acumen with my lived experience, and proudly offer professional development opportunities for corporations through a lens of wellness, creatively. I have worked with Fortune 500 companies, School Districts, Healthcare Professionals and individuals throughout the country, and globally through the virtual space.
You will find I'm curious about neuroscience, the development of humane technologies and that I welcome vulnerable conversations around race and identity. I advocate for the arts in education and support social-emotional initiatives.
I love dark chocolate and coffee - maybe a little too much, and am no stranger to late nights over early mornings!
As a true empathic centered person,
I lead with my heart and always aim for the Light!
Onward & Upward,
let us rise together...
